During the 2025-2026 academic year, pupils were given the opportunity to help shape our school community by selecting new House Saints. During the Autumn Term, children across the school learned about a range of inspirational saints, including both modern-day saints and saints from the time of Jesus and the early Church. Through assemblies, class discussions, and prayerful reflection, pupils explored how these holy men and women lived out their faith and served God.
Before the half-term break, the entire school took part in a democratic vote to choose the saints who would represent our school houses. The children carefully considered the virtues and qualities of each saint before casting their votes. Following the whole-school election, four saints were chosen to become our House Saints: Saint Cecilia, Saint Sebastian, Saint Teresa of Kolkata (Mother Teresa), and Saint Francis of Assisi.
Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians. She loved God deeply and remained faithful to Him throughout her life, even during times of persecution. Saint Cecilia inspires us to use our talents to praise God, to worship Him with joy, and to stay strong in our faith.
Feast Day: 22nd November
Saint Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes and soldiers. He showed great courage and remained faithful to God, even when it was difficult and dangerous to do so. Saint Sebastian inspires us to be brave, stand up for what is right and trust in God during challenging times.
Feast Day: 20th January
Saint Teresa of Kolkata is the patron saint of missionaries and is known for her love and care for the poor and those in need. She dedicated her life to serving others, showing kindness, compassion, and God's love to everyone she met. Saint Teresa inspires us to be caring, to help those around us, and to see Jesus in every person we meet.
Feast Day: 5th September
Saint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals, the environment, and God's creation. He loved nature and saw the beauty of God in the world around him, treating all living things with care and respect. Saint Francis inspires us through our Forest School learning to appreciate and care for God's creation, to show respect for the natural world, and to recognise the wonder of God's gifts in the outdoors.
Feast Day: 4th October
