House Captains

House Captains and Sports Captains are important pupil leaders in our school and are chosen to be positive role models for others. At the beginning of each academic year, children in each House take part in a democratic election to choose their House Captain and Sports Captain. These leaders help to organise House events, encourage teamwork, promote participation in sporting activities, and support younger pupils during whole-school events. They represent their House with pride and demonstrate our school values through their actions and behaviour. Through these leadership roles, children develop confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and a commitment to serving the school community.

School Council

The School Council gives children a voice and helps them make a positive difference in our school. At the beginning of each Autumn Term, pupils take part in a democratic election to choose the School Councillors who will represent their year group. The elected councillors meet regularly to share ideas, listen to the views of their classmates, and discuss ways to improve school life. Through the School Council, children develop leadership skills, responsibility, confidence, and an understanding of how they can work together to make our school an even better place for everyone.

Reading Club

Every Wednesday during lunchtime, our amazing Reading ambassadors meet to talk about books, share books and discuss ways in which we can encourage others to read. Our main aim is to promote reading for pleasure within school and to share our love of reading with everyone!

We facilitate many events such as:

Author visits,

Ordering books,

Tidying up the library

Keeping the Ready Reader trolleys neat and well-stocked as well as checking that the book corners in the classrooms are appealing, well-used and loved!

We enjoy working with other leadership groups to promote their subjects too such as organising the Science section with the Science ambassadors and creating a designated British Values area with the School Council.

Choir

The choir consists of children from years two to year six, who love singing! They meet with Mrs. McCracken and Miss Young on a Friday lunchtime, where they practice songs which are a mixture of hymns and gospel songs, as well as some for pure entertainment.  They have learnt a few descants to well-known hymns and can also sing acapella and in ‘rounds’, taking different parts simultaneously.

During whole school hymn practice and during school masses, they lead the singing and they represent the school up in the Children’s Choir at The Sacred Heart Church whenever the occasion requires. They have also sung in the community, especially around Christmas time, and hope to keep finding new ways to celebrate in song!
